They work combining an aluminium cassette with side channels which prevents light and draughts. For one thing, seals within the side rails, form a barrier between the window sill and the blind. As a result, light seepage or heat loss through the window is minimised.

Blackout Vertical Blinds

In like manner, the Banlight fabrics provide an alternative solution.  One point to bear in mind is that a small amount of light may seep through the vertical slats or vanes.

In the first place, a choice  between plain or pattern fabric requires attention. Moreover, fabrics with additional special treatments tend to be more expensive. However, although many fabrics remain effective in keeping out the light,  the area surrounding the edge of the blind often permit some light to enter the room.
